Did you know that bike accidents sometimes cost people thousands of dollars? Wrong. A friend who did not have health insurance was riding down a regular city street in Tempe, AZ. She was new in town and did not know that this street turns into a short freeway. She was trapped on the freeway, cars whizzing dangerously by, and was hit by a car. At the rate the cars were traveling, she had no chance of escape. Luckily, she was ok, but at the emergency room they asked for her health insurance card and she did not have one. If she knew about cheaper health insurance that is available by getting a quote, she would have had one. Instead she owed thousands of dollars! Always remember that bicycles accidents can be just as costly as car accidents.
